Jacquie Caldwell

Her influences are not strictly extrapolated from the dictates and the philosophies of Western culture but also far-reaching into the ancient cultures of Africa and Asia.

Great passions, both the literary and jazz worlds, have provided her with ambiguous puns and signals that have structured her compositions. Caldwell’s imagery is not only aesthetically successful, but also deep in social and emotional content. While her statements are purely visual, they have undergone the transformation from thought to image in an enlightened process.

Although immediately recognized for her rich landscapes, she is also known for her depictions of figures, as well as her conceptual pieces. While proficient in many different media, her preferred medium is oilstick.
