Paul Bennett Hirsch
The richly saturated images portrayed are at once, a portal into the volatile climates of contemporary art and popular culture-; A slice of everyday existence. hirsch’s thrust is to communicate via a visual journal, freezing time.. Earlier works, visually dense, incorporated graffiti like text, signs, symbols, calligraphic scrawls, and cartoon images are grounded by objects bearing universal resonance; telephones, automobiles, saws, and houses. Utilizing symbolic icons of everyday life, hirsch has effectively created an alternative language, a visual “esperanto” that transcends all perceived boundaries- piercing through all ethnic and cultural differences. Incorporating the technological advances of computer imagery the newer works possess a decidedly softer edge but preserve Hirsch’s core imagery presenting them in a fresh new ways.
